LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Marc Bailey scored 18 points, and Donta Richardson 16 as Wyoming beat BYU 76-60 Thursday night to set up a head-to-head clash with Utah for the Mountain West Conference championship.
The Cowboys (19-7 overall) will host Utah Saturday in the regular season finale for both teams. Both are tied atop the conference with 10-3 records. Utah beat Colorado State Thursday 72-62.
Wyoming used its size and quickness to beat BYU to the ball Thursday night.
The Cowboys outrebounded BYU 48-24. Wyoming had 21 offensive rebounds, and scored 27 second chance points to just 7 for the Cougars.
Josh Davis, who had 10 points, grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Wyoming on the boards.
The first half saw the lead change seven times, but Wyoming pulled ahead with a 10-4 run at the end of the half for a 34-29 lead.
The Cowboys opened the second half with an 11-4 run and eventually went up as many as 20 points.
Richardson had 14 points during the two runs.
Jason Straight contributed 13 points.
BYU (17-9, 7-6) has yet to win a conference game on the road and ends the regular season at Colorado State on Saturday.
Travis Hansen paced BYU with 16 points, while Mark Bigelow and Eric Nielsen contributed 14 apiece.
