LAS VEGAS (AP) - Terrell Lyday scored 32 points as Brigham Young defeatedWyoming 77-66 Friday night to advance to the championship game of the MountainWest Conference tournament.
Mikeli Wesley added 23 points and Trent Whiting scored 11, with Lyday andWesley scoring 30 of the Cougars' 34 second-half points.
The Cougars jumped out early, building a 20-10 advantage with 12:27 left inthe first half. Lyday had 16 first-half points for Brigham Young, which was5-of-7 from behind the 3-point line in the half.
Wyoming came back in the second half to cut the lead to 61-56 with 5:56remaining and had a chance to pull within two but a McFall 3-pointer rimmedout.
After the miss, Wesley made two foul shots and Lyday hit a jumper to put theCougars up 67-58 with 3:58 left.
The Cowboys managed to pull within five again at 67-62, but Lyday hit histhird three-pointer of the game to put the Cougars up 70-62 with less than 3minutes remaining.
Brigham Young (23-8) will play the winner of the second game Friday nightbetween Utah and New Mexico State.
