The Wyoming Cowboys opened their 2003-04 season on Saturday night with a 97-87 home exhibition win over the EA Sports Midwest All-Stars. A crowd of 8,175 was on hand to watch the game.
UW withstood early hot shooting by the EA Sports squad to make a run of their own and take a 50-37 lead into halftime.
All five Cowboy starters scored in double figures led by Jay Straight with 18 points. Mory Correa had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Dunn also chipped in a double-double with 12 boards and 14 points.
EA Sports was led by former Wake Forest star Robert O'Kelly who scored 27 points in 28 minutes. O'Kelly was 7 of 11 from the three-point arc.
Wyoming will play one more exhibition game this coming Saturday, November 8 before starting regular season play on November 22. Saturday's exhibition game will pit UW against a different EA Sports team.
