The University of Wyoming Cowboy basketball team gave a spirited exhibition performance in Laramie on Saturday afternoon, and defeated theUniversity of Colorado-Colorado Springs 99-50.
The Cowboys, who shot 46% from the field, were led by senior Jay Straight's 21 points. Straight also dished out four assists and had three steals. Steve Leven scored in double figures for the second straight exhibition game, 14 points to go with his team-high nine rebounds, four assists and five steals. Chris Anderson added 17 points in his first action of the year. Newcomer Kevin Lewis grabbed eight rebounds in 15 minutes on the court.
Jim Pecic scored a team-high 14 points for UCCS.
"I think all of our new guys seemed a lot more comfortable in today's game," said UW head coach Steve McClain. "They got all the jitters out last Tuesday night, and they came ready to play today.
"I said it the other night and I'll say it again today, we are gonna be a work in progress. As these new kids learn the way that we play, we will get better every day and make progress every game."
