The 12th season of Mountain West Conference men's basketball will begin on Tuesday night and will feature the Wyoming Cowboys traveling to Fort Collins to face their arch-rival Colorado State. The first "Border War" of the 2010-11 season will begin at 7 p.m. from Colorado State's Moby Arena and will be televised live by The Mtn.

A Look at the Matchup with Colorado State:
The Cowboys, who have won five of their last seven games, will enter MWC play with a 7-7 overall record. They have had an unexpected week to prepare for Tuesday's game with Colorado State, as their game at Houston Baptist on Dec. 31 was postponed due to travel problems. The Pokes have posted a record of 7-2 at home this season, but are still searching for their first road win of the season.

Desmar Jackson has had a great sophomore season to date for the Cowboys. He has scored 20 or more points in three straight games and has scored in double figures in 11 consecutive games. He is currently the fifth best scorer in the MWC with a 15.5 points per game average. He also ranks second in the league in steals with 2.62 a game.

Senior Djibril Thiam has been the Pokes' top post player this season and enters league play as one of only four players in the MWC to rank in the top 12 of both scoring and rebounding. His 5.9 rebounds a game are the sixth most in the league and his 12.4 points per game rank No. 12 in the conference. Thiam has scored in double figures in nine straight games.

Colorado State posted a 10-4 non-conference record this season. They are led by two senior post players who are combining to average more than 30 points a game. Andy Ogide is the MWC's third best scorer and rebounder with respective averages of 15.7 and 7.4. Travis Franklin is tied for sixth in the league in scoring with 15.3 points a game.

Colorado State is coached by Tim Miles, who is in his fourth season with the Rams. CSU has posted a record of 42-67 (.385) during his tenure.

Colorado State returns seven letterwinners and four starters from a 16-16 team in 2009-10. The Rams tied for fifth in the MWC last season and earned a postseason bid, playing in the College Basketball Invitational. The Rams lost to Morehead State on the road in the first round of the CBI.

Cowboys and Rams Will Meet for the 214th Time:
Tuesday's game will mark the 214th meeting between Wyoming and Colorado State on the basketball floor. The Cowboys lead the series 127-86 and are 49-46 in games played in Fort Collins.

Since both teams began play in the MWC, Wyoming leads the series 15-10. Of the first 25 MWC meetings, 20 have been decided by 10 points or less. In games played in Fort Collins, nine of 11 games have been decided by 10 points or less.

    Pregame Hospitality for Wyoming Fans:
The Cowboy Joe Club will be hosting a pregame hospitality event for all Cowboy fans in Fort Collins prior to Tuesday's game. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at Jim's Wings from 5-6:30 p.m. Jim's Wings is located at 1205 W. Elizabeth St., which is directly across the street from Moby Arena.
