LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Winners of seven-straight games, the University of Wyoming men's basketball team climbed in the national top-25 polls on Monday. The Cowboys are ranked No. 25 in the Associated Press poll with 71 votes, while earning 28 votes in the USA Today Coaches poll to rank second in receiving votes.
The last time Wyoming was ranked in the top 25 of the AP poll was March 15, 1988, when the Cowboys were No. 13 prior to their NCAA tournament game against No. 15 Loyola Marymount. UW's last appearance in the coaches' top 25 was Jan. 7, 2013, when the Pokes were No. 25 for one week.
This season's Pokes are 15-2 overall and 4-0 in the Mountain West for their best start in conference play since 2002-03 and just one win shy of their best start ever in the league. Wyoming has won 13-straight games in the Arena-Auditorium, the longest streak since 2000-01, as its two losses on the season have come at SMU and at California. The Cowboys are currently No. 64 in the RPI, according to RPIForecast.com.
Wyoming resumes play by hosting San Diego State on Wednesday at 9 p.m. MT in the Arena-Auditorium. Fans can help #RockTheAztecs by attending a pregame concert by Chancey Williams and the Younger Brothers Band in the AA prior to the game.
