LARAMIE, Wyo. -

Some 70 Cowboy basketball lettermen, including nine of the ten All-Century team members, are returning to the University of Wyoming campus this weekend for the celebration commemorating 100 years of Wyoming basketball.

The celebration is in conjunction with the Wyoming-Utah basketball game Saturday at the Arena-Auditorium.

The weekend tips off Friday with a welcome reception at the Rochelle Athletic Center's War Room from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.. The evening will be hosted by the UW Athletics Department and the Cowboy Joe Club.

Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m., a ceremony to unveil the 1943 National Championship Trophy in its new, permanent home is scheduled in the Arena-Auditorium concourse at the Willett West entrance near the UW Athletics Ticket Office (North side of the Double A). All Cowboy fans are invited to attend. Guest speakers will include Athletics Director Gary Barta, Mountain West Commissioner Craig Thompson, Cowboy Head Coach Steve McClain and Cowboy legend Kenny Sailors, the leader of that title team. Sailors and teammate Jimmie Reese will unveil the display.

Following the ceremony, a pre-game hospitality will be hosted by EnCana USA, and the Cowboy Joe Club from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at War Memorial Fieldhouse. Cowboy basketball legends will be available for autographs at that event, which is open to all Wyoming fans.

The Cowboys and Utes will tipoff at 4 p.m. in the Double A. At halftime of the game, all of the lettermen in attendance as well as the All-Century Team will be introduced. The team, as voted by Cowboy fans, includes Marcus Bailey (2000-03), Charles Bradley (1978-81), Fennis Dembo (1985-88), Bill Garnett (1979-82), Eric Leckner (1985-88), Theo Ratliff (1992-95), Flynn Robinson (1963-65), Kenny Sailors (1941-43, `46), Reginald Slater (1989-92) and Tony Windis (1957-59). The only member of the team who will not be attending is Ratliff. He is a starter for the NBA's Portland Trailblazers, who are playing at Minnesota on Saturday.

Cowboy fans were able to vote on-line during November, and at the Arena-Auditorium during the Texas-Arlington game on November 27. Over 1,800 ballots were cast. Fans were asked to nominate their favorites during a two-week period in early November. The ballot for the team was comprised of the top 30 nominees. Two weeks of voting followed the nomination period.
