Jan. 12, 2009

Last Saturday afternoon, the Cowboy basketball team welcomed special needs individuals to the Arena-Auditorium to play with the current basketball team. The event was put together by the Cowboy basketball program, Ark Regional Services of Laramie and Wyoming Special Olympics.

The Cowboy players and coaches went through drills with the special needs individuals that included shooting, passing and dribbling. Following the clinic, the Cowboys also did an autograph session.

"Special needs people are a group of the community that hold a special place in my heart," said UW head coach Heath Schroyer. "This was a great opportunity for us to give a little something back to them. It was really special for our guys to be able to interact with each and every one of these individuals. They are an inspiration to our team."
