After spending their past five games on the road, the Cowboy basketball team will return to the Arena-Auditorium on Wednesday night to host San Diego State. The game, which will be UW's first Mountain West Conference home game of the season, will begin at 6 p.m. and will be televised live by The Mtn.
The Cowboys enter Wednesday's game 11-4 overall and 0-1 in the MWC. The have not played a game in 11 days, dating back to their MWC opener at Utah on January 3.
The Cowboys are led by senior Brandon Ewing, who currently leads the MWC in both scoring (19.1 points per game) and assists (5.33 assists per game). Ewing has scored 20 or more points in four consecutive games and in seven of UW's last eight games.
Behind Ewing, three other Cowboys are currently averaging double-figures in scoring. Those Cowboys include redshirt freshman Afam Muojeke (15.3 ppg), redshirt senior Sean Ogirri (14.9 ppg) and senior Tyson Johnson (14.8 ppg). All three are among the MWC's top-10 scorers. Ogirri is currently leading the league in three-pointers per game with 3.33 and Johnson ranks second in the league in rebounding with 8.3 per game.
San Diego State enters Wednesday night's game with a 12-3 overall record and a 2-0 MWC mark. They have won five consecutive games dating back to mid-December. They are led by senior Kyle Spain, who is averaging 14.8 points a game. Senior Lorenzo Wade is adding 10.4 points a game of his own. The Aztecs return all five starters from last season.
Following Wednesday's game with San Diego State, the Cowboys will return to the road and travel to UNLV for a Saturday night game with the Rebels. That game will begin at 8 p.m. (Mountain Time) in the Thomas and Mack Center and will be televised live by The Mtn.
