Cowboys Bring 10-Game Home Winning Streak Into Utah Game: The WyomingCowboys have built a 10-game home winning streak in the Arena-Auditorium,dating back to Jan. 29, 2000, when they defeated San Diego State 93-87.

Wyoming ended the 1999-2000 season with a five-game winning streak.Wyoming defeated San Diego State, UNLV, Air Force, BYU and Utah in its lastfive home games of the '99-2000 season. The Cowboyshave begun the 2000-01 season with five home victories to stretch their homewinning streak to 10 games.

The last time Wyoming won 10 consecutive home games was from the endof the 1998-99 season through the beginning of the 1999-2000 season. Thatstreak ran from a Feb. 25, 1999, home win over Air Force through a Jan. 13,2000, home victory over New Mexico.

Defense A Strength for Pokes in 2000-01 Season: Wyoming's defense has beenextremely effective this season as the Pokes are holding opponents to only39.4 percent shooting from the field. That ranks No. 3 in the Mountain WestConference. Only New Mexico and BYU rank ahead of the Cowboys in field-goalpercentage defense, holding opponents to 39.1 and 39.3 percent shooting fromthe field, respectively.

The best defensive teams in Wyoming history were those of BasketballHall of Fame Coach Everett Shelton. Shelton's 1950-51 team held opponentsto only 28.0 percent shooting.

ESPN Regional to Televise Wyoming-Utah Rematch: This Saturday's gamebetween the Wyoming Cowboys and Utah Utes will be televised live by ESPNRegional. Ted Robinson will describe the play-by-play action, and Irv Brownwill add color commentary. Tipoff is set for 1:07 p.m., Mountain time.

The game will mark the second time in 12 days that the Cowboys andUtes will meet on an ESPN broadcast. The two met in Salt Lake City on Jan.8 on ESPN's Big Monday. Utah won that game 83-71.

Cowboys and Utes Meet in Matchup of Preseason Conference Favorites: TheUtah Utes and Wyoming Cowboys enter this season as the preseason favoritesto win the 2001 Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball title.

Utah was picked first with 18 first-place votes and 233 total pointsin voting by conference media members. Wyoming was picked second with sevenfirst-place votes and 207 total points.

Wyoming Looks to Continue Success Against Utah in the Arena-Auditorium: Ithas been a successful home streak for the Wyoming Cowboys against the UtahUtes in Laramie. Wyoming has won the last five home games against the UtahUtes in the Arena-Auditorium.

The last time Utah won in the Double A was Jan. 28, 1993, by a scoreof 64-45.

Many Heroes Key Wyoming's Overtime Win Over CSU: There were a number ofheroes for the Wyoming Cowboys in their 70-69 victory over Colorado State onSaturday, Jan. 13. Here are just a few of the key contributors to the winat CSU.
*Sophomore forward Marcus Bailey scored 20 points againstCSU on Jan. 13 to record his sixth 20-point game in 14 games this season.Against CSU, Bailey scored three of Wyoming's seven points in overtime,including the winning jumper with 1:08 remaining.
*Junior Josh Davis scored 16 points against CSU includingthe final four points for the Cowboys in regulation before fouling out with20 seconds remaining in the second half. He also grabbed six reboundsversus the Rams. Davis scored 13 of his 16 points in the second half andgrabbed all six of his rebounds in the second stanza. He shot 66.7 percentfrom the field (6 of 9) against CSU, was perfect from three-point range (2of 2), blocked one shot and had a steal.
*Wyoming's point-guard tandem of Chris McMillian and BrettMcFall combined for 20 points, two rebounds, seven assists and two stealsagainst Colorado State while playing outstanding defense against the Rams.
*Redshirt junior Ugo Udezue also played a key role in theovertime win at Colorado State last Saturday. Udezue hit two of two freethrows in overtime, grabbed two rebounds in the extra period and drew acharge to end the game and seal Wyoming's 70-69 victory.
*Freshman Joe Ries tied a career high with three rebounds againstCSU. The amazing thing is that he pulled down the three rebounds and scoreda tip-in basket in only four minutes of play -- all in overtime.

Cowboys 10-4 Record Matches Best Start in McClain Era: Wyoming's 10-4record matches the best start by a Steve McClain team at Wyoming. InMcClain's first season (1998-99), Wyoming started out 10-4. Last season(1999-2000), the Cowboys were also 10-4 through 14 games.

McClain's '98-'99 squad went on to win its 15th game of the seasonto go to 11-4. A year ago, Wyoming also lost its 15th game for a 10-5start.

Notes From Last Week in Cowboy Basketball:
*Wyoming's 70-69 overtime win at Colorado State last Saturday markedthe first time this season that the Cowboys had trailed at halftime and cameback to win. UW trailed by seven at the half (29-36), but outscored CSU byseven in the second half and by one in overtime to capture the one-pointroad victory.
*UW's win at Colorado State on Jan. 13 was its first in Fort Collinssince Feb. 21, 1998, when the Cowboys won 69-64. That game was also thelast time Wyoming won an overtime game.
*The Border War game in Fort Collins has now been decided by onepoint in the last two consecutive meetings. Last year's game in FortCollins was won by the Rams 79-78.
*The Cowboys have now won two straight against their archrival, CSU.UW also defeated the Rams in the First Round of the 2000 Mountain WestConference Tournament by a score of 74-68.
*The Cowboys one-point win over CSU (70-69) on Saturday, Jan. 13 wasthe UW's first one-point game of the season.
*Saturday has been a good day for the Pokes this season. Wyoming is6-0 in Saturday games this season.
*In fact, Wyoming is perfect in weekend games this season (Friday,Saturday and Sunday games). UW is a perfect 8-0 in weekend games -- 1-0 onFriday, 6-0 on Saturday and 1-0 on Sunday.
*Marcus Bailey's 20 points against Colorado State on Jan. 13 was aconference career high for him. His previous high scoring game in aconference contest was 19 vs. New Mexico on Feb. 14, 2000.
*Brett McFall's 35 minutes played against CSU was a career high forhim. His previous high was 29 vs. Colorado State on Feb. 20, 1999.
*McFall's 14 points against the Rams was a season high for him. Hisprevious season high was 10 against Denver on Nov. 27, 2000.
*Brett McFall continues to be perfect from the free-throw line forthe 2000-01 season. He is 14 of 14 for the year.
