LARAMIE, Wyo. - Wyoming sophomore guard/forward Marcus Bailey is the Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading the Cowboys (11-4, 2-1 MWC) to a 78-77 overtime victory in their conference home opener vs. Utah. This is the second player of the week honor for Bailey this season and in his career.

Bailey, a Cheyenne, Wyo. (East HS) native, produced the ninth-highest scoring game in Wyoming's Arena-Auditorium history with a career-high 33 points. He shot 52.6 percent (10-for-19) from the field, 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from the free throw line and hit two-of-three 3-pointers. Bailey also pulled down seven rebounds and came up with three steals after playing 44 of a possible 45 minutes of the game.

Bailey led the Cowboys to victory in the final four minutes of the game as he drained eight consecutive free throws, including two with 21 seconds remaining to give Wyoming a three-point lead. After Utah's Kevin Bradley forced overtime with a trey in the final seconds of the game, Bailey tallied four of the Cowboys nine points in the extra period and help secure the one-point win.

It was first 30-point performance of Bailey's career and the seventh time this season that he has scored 20 or more points in a game. He leads the Cowboys and the MWC in scoring at 18.3 points per game.
