The Wyoming Cowboys and Air Force Falcons will conclude the first half of their Mountain West Conference schedules this Saturday when the two teams meet in Laramie. The game will tip off at 4:00 p.m., Mountain Time.
Wyoming is 11-8 overall and 3-3 in MWC play and tied for third place with New Mexico and San Diego State. Air Force enters Saturday's game with a 14-7 overall record and is 5-1 in conference play, which places them second in the MWC race.
The Cowboys lead the overall series with 64 wins against 21 losses. The Pokes have won eight of the last 10 meetings and 27 of the last 31. Wyoming has been victorious in 14 of the last 15 meetings in Laramie. Air Force's one win in Laramie during that 15-game stretch came last season by a score of 52-47 in the Arena-Auditorium. UW head coach Steve McClain has won 10 of 13 meetings against the Falcons.
Saturday's game will mark the 200th game that McClain has been head coach of the Cowboys. McClain's overall record at Wyoming stands at 122-77 (.613). Only three other Wyoming head coaches have coached 200 games for the Cowboys. The other three coaches with 200 games at the helm of the Cowboy Basketball program were: Everett Shelton (1940-59), Bill Strannigan (1960-73) and Jim Brandenburg (1979-87).
Wyoming enters Saturday's game as the third most successful program in the six-year history of the Mountain West Conference. Wyoming has posted a 44-32 (.579) record in MWC regular-season games. Only Brigham Young, 46-30 (.605), and Utah, 56-20 (.737) have won more MWC games. Air Force ranks sixth in MWC winning percentage, posting a 30-46 (.395) record.
There is no television coverage of Saturday's game. The game will be broadcast on the Cowboy Sports Radio Network, with the pre-game show beginning at 3:30 p.m.
