50/50 Raffle an Initial Success at Cowboy Hoops Games

Feb. 15, 2003

A 50/50 Raffle was held at the last two Cowboy basketball games as a fundraiser for UW Athletics teams. The contest was a huge success, with over $11,000 collected. $5,682.50 went back into UW Athletics, with the other half given to a fan per game. Lawrence Jereb (BYU) and Megan McIntosh (Utah) were the initial fan winners.

Following is a list of the Wyoming team or organizations benefiting from the fundraiser.

Tickets are sold for $1.00 a piece in the Arena-Auditorium and at pre-game functions by student-athletes and their coaches. All selling ceases at the end of half-time (prior to the tip-off for the 2nd half).

After all tickets and change have been returned and reconciled, all raffle tickets are brought to the raffle bin (located in the AA). The winning ticket is then picked at the final timeout of the second half (approximately the 4:00 minute mark).

The winner must return the winning ticket and pick-up their money at the UW Ticket Office in the AA. The winner has until 10 minutes following the completion of the game to claim their money. If no one claims the winning ticket by that time, all the money goes to the team/organization conducting the raffle that night.

Lawrence Jareb (center), of Rock Springs, Wyoming, won $3,900 at the BYU home game, 2/8.

The raffle will take place at all remaining home men's basketball games.
