Feb. 19, 2007

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -

Wyoming junior Brad Jones was named the Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. This is the second weekly award of the season and career for Jones.

Jones, a 6-0 guard from Marked Tree, Ark., led the Cowboys to a conference home win vs. San Diego State (80-71) last Saturday. Against the Aztecs, Jones scored a game-high 32 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the floor and 17-for-18 from the charity stripe. The 17 made free throws ties Jones with Brandon Heath and Andrew Bogut for the second-most free throws made in a conference game all-time, as well as the fourth-best free throw total in overall games ever in the MWC. Jones also pulled down seven rebounds and dished out a game-best five assists against SDSU, as the Pokes snapped a four-game losing streak and also ended the Aztecs' five-game winning streak in the process. Jones notched his second 30-point effort of the season, as his 32 points marks his career-best point total in conference games.
