Wyoming's Davis Garners MWC Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Wyoming sophomore center/forward Josh Davis is theMountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week after recordingtwo double-doubles, while leading the Cowboys to a 2-0 record on the roadthis past week in league play. Wyoming is 15-10 overall and 5-5 inconference play.

Davis, from Salem, Ore. (Salem Academy), averaged 22.5 points and 12.5rebounds per game this past week. He shot 63 percent from the field(17-for-27), 60 percent from 3-point range (3-for-5) and 72.7 percent fromthe free throw line (8-for-11).

Davis scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in Wyoming'sfirst conference road win of the season at New Mexico (99-93) on Feb. 14. Hewent 9-for-16 (56.3%) from the field and was perfect from both 3-point range(3-for-3) and the charity stripe (4-for-4). Davis also had two steals and noturnovers in 23 minutes of action.

In the Cowboys' 71-57 victory at San Diego State on Saturday, Davis scored20 points, pulled down 11 rebounds, blocked three shots and made one steal.He hit 8-of-11 (72.7%) shots from the floor and went 4-for-7 from the foulline.

In addition to the two double-doubles this past week, Davis had 16 pointsand 10 rebounds on Feb. 12 at UNLV, becoming the second-ever player inMountain West Conference men's basketball to record three consecutivedouble-doubles (Kaspars Kambala-UNLV). He will attempt to become the firstmen's basketball player in the conference to have four double-doubles in arow when the Cowboys play Air Force tonight in Laramie. He currently has 10double-doubles on the year (14 career), tying him for the Mtn. West leadwith Kambala of UNLV. Davis has also tallied 10 double-figure rebound gamesthis season and four 14-plus rebound games, both of which are tied for topbilling in the conference.

Davis is ranked among the top 11 in the conference in five statisticalcategories, No. 3 in rebounding (8.7 rpg), No. 4 in blocked shots (1.5 bpg),11th in scoring (14.2 ppg), 11th FG percentage (49.5) and 11th in steals(1.4 spg).

This is Wyoming's and Davis' first Mountain West Conference Player of theWeek honor of the year.
