LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The Wyoming Cowboys travel to TCU on Wednesday, Feb. 28 in what is the Cowboys' final regular-season road game of the 2006-07 season. Wyoming will bring a 15-13 overall record and a 6-8 Mountain West Conference mark into Wednesday's game in Fort Worth, Texas. The TCU Horned Frogs will be hosting their final regular-season home game in the contest scheduled to tip off at 5:30 p.m., Mountain Time (6:30 p.m., Central Time). TCU is 11-15 overall and 3-11 in the MWC.
Earlier this season, Wyoming defeated TCU by 15 points, 71-56, in Laramie, Wyo. In that game, the Pokes were led by their outstanding backcourt of Brandon Ewing and Brad Jones, who scored 22 and 18 points respectively. UW had two young players come off the bench to also score in double figures in that home victory. Freshman Eric Platt scored a career high 15 points, and sophomore Bienvenu Songondo scored a season high 10 points. TCU was led by Kevin Langford, who scored 12, and Brent Hackett, who tallied 10 points. In that first meeting, both teams made the same number of field goals (19) and the same number of threes (6), but Wyoming made 27 of 33 free throws (81.8 percent) compared to TCU's 12 of 23 free throws (52.2 percent) to capture the win.
Wyoming's Ewing enters this week just 30 points shy of 1,000 career points. He has scored 970 career points, and if he reaches the 1,000-point plateau before the conclusion of this season he will become the first sophomore in school history to achieve that milestone. He would also become only the 31st player in the 102 seasons of Cowboy Basketball to join the 1,000-point club.
Wednesday's game will be televised by The Mtn.
The Cowboy Sports Network will also broadcast the game on radio over its 25 affiliate stations beginning with the pregame show at 5 p.m., Mountain Time.
