LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Cowboy fans are encouraged to help celebrate the Arena-Auditorium by participating in "Rewind Day" on Saturday for the Border War between the University of Wyoming men's basketball team and Colorado State. Slated for a 2 p.m. MT start, the contest will be Wyoming's final home game in the current configuration of the Arena-Auditorium.
Rewind Day will celebrate the history of the building, which is set to undergo major renovations during the offseason, by turning back the clock to 1982 when the Arena-Auditorium was opened. The Cowboys will wear special throwback jerseys in the same design the team wore when it first played in the building. Fans can earn prizes for wearing their best `80s attire, rock out to era music and enjoy various concessions specials that will be offered.
The first Cowboy game played in the Arena-Auditorium was Feb. 20, 1982. Wyoming defeated Air Force, 59-29, in the final home game of that season before a capacity crowd of 15,004. The first full season in the Double A was 1982-83. The Cowboys have gone on to post a 355-126 all-time record in the building. The Arena-Auditorium has hosted 73 crowds over 10,000 fans in its history and still embraces the largest indoor seating capacity within the state of Wyoming.
Tickets may be purchased by calling the Wyoming Athletics Ticket Office at 877-WYO-FAN1 (877-996-3261) or online at GoWYO.com.
