University of Wyoming head basketball coach Heath Schroyer made the announcement on Friday that the Cowboy basketball team will compete in the 2010 Cancun Challenge on Nov. 23-24. The challenge will be played at the Aventura Palace and Spa in Cancun, Mexico.
While the complete eight-team tournament field is still being finalized, Missouri, Providence, LaSalle, North Florida and Morgan State are currently scheduled to compete with the Cowboys. The tournament will feature two divisions, the Mayan and Riviera Divisions. The Riviera Division will feature Wyoming, Missouri, Providence and LaSalle. The other four teams will play in the Mayan Division.
All eight teams playing in the challenge will play a pair of games on campus sites before traveling to Cancun. The Cowboys will play both games in Laramie. Dates and times of those games, as well as the entire 2010 Cowboy basketball schedule, will be announced at a later date.
