Uche Officially Withdraws from NBA Draft

June 18, 2002

Wyoming center Uche Nsonwu-Amadi announced Tuesday that he has officially withdrawn his name from the National Basketball Association draft.

Nsonwu-Amadi, a 6-10 junior from Enugu, Nigeria, indicated in April that he had decided to enter the NBA draft scheduled for late June. Because he did not hire an agent, he had left open the option to return to Wyoming for his senior season. By rule, a collegiate player may withdraw his name from draft consideration up to a week prior to the June 26 draft provided he does not have an agent.

"We are excited Uche chose to return to school," UW Coach Steve McClain said Monday. "Both of us learned a lot of good things during this process.
