LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Head Coach Steve McClain announced Wednesday that he has completed his Wyoming staff with the addition of a 14-year veteran of major college basketball coaching.
Joe Dooley, who for the past three seasons has been coaching--the last two as associate head coach--at the University of New Mexico, joins John Adams and Leroy Washington on McClain's staff. Dooley, whose appointment is subject to UW Trustee approval, replaces Heath Schroyer who left Wyoming to become the head coach at Portland State University.
"It's always exciting to have an opportunity to add another veteran coach to the staff," McClain said. "Joe brings a wealth of experience to our program. He has been a head coach at this level, and has recruited at this level. He also has experienced the Mountain West Conference and that is invaluable to us. With John and Leroy we now have an extremely veteran staff. That allows me to give them a lot more responsibility, and that can only make our program better. Joe understands what we are trying to do, and he's an excellent fit. I'm thrilled we have been able to attract him.
