Wyoming senior point guard ChrisMcMillian underwent surgery on Thursday to repair a fractured fibula abovehis left ankle sustained while playing in a summer league softball game. Heis expected to be ready for the season opener.
According to UW Athletic Trainer Bill Lyons, McMillian cannot placeany weight on the ankle for six weeks, but will be able to begin hisrehabilitation at that time.
McMillian suffered the injury while sliding during a softball gameon Wednesday (July 25).
A native of Brea, Calif., McMillian has been an integral part ofWyoming's basketball success since he came to the University in 1998. Hehas started all 89 games of his career at point guard. He is currentlynumber three on the UW career assist list with 369, and number four on theUW career steal chart with 120. This past season he ranked number three inthe Mountain West Conference in assists, and number five inassist-to-turnover ratio.
He finished the season averaging 6.9 points per game.
