With the start of the 2008-09 college basketball season just around the corner, University of Wyoming senior Brandon Ewing was selected as a Preseason Honorable Mention All-American, among high major schools, on Thursday. The All-America teams are voted on by the organization's staff writers.

This is the second preseason accolade for Ewing, as he was also selected to the preseason All-Mountain West Conference team by the league's media at the MWC's media day on October 14.

Ewing, a point guard from Chicago, Ill., is entering his senior season with the Cowboys this fall. He is a three-time All-MWC performer and has led the league in scoring in each of the past two seasons. Following both his sophomore and junior seasons, Ewing was named to both the United States Basketball Writers Association All-District VII team as well as the National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 13 Second Team. Ewing enters his senior season as the sixth highest scorer in MWC history with 1,556 career points. He is also the 10th highest scorer in Wyoming basketball history.

The Cowboys will open the 2008-09 season on Sat., November 8 with an exhibition game against the Colorado School of Mines. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. in the Arena-Auditorium.
