Wyoming Faces Colorado State-Pueblo in Exhibition Play for the Second Time in Three Years

Nov. 6, 2007

The Wyoming Cowboys will host the Colorado State-Pueblo ThunderWolves for the second time in three years when CSU-Pueblo travels to Laramie for a Tuesday night matchup. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m., Mountain Time from Wyoming's Arena-Auditorium. It will be the second and final exhibition game of the season for the Cowboys.

The game will be broadcast live on the 25 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network. The pregame show will begin one-half hour before game time.

The one previous exhibition meeting between the two Front Range schools was on Nov. 2, 2005, when UW defeated the ThunderWolves 71-42 in Laramie.

CSU-Pueblo was previously the University of Southern Colorado. UW has a 3-0 regular-season record vs. old Southern Colorado, with the last regular-season meeting being in the 1992-93 season.

Wyoming head coach Heath Schroyer is one of five new head coaches in the Mountain West this season, and because of that fact the conference race should be extremely interesting this season.

Junior point guard Brandon Ewing, who led the Mountain West Conference and ranked No. 28 in the nation in scoring a year ago, was voted the Top Returning Player in the Mountain West Conference and MWC Media Day in October.

"I believe Brandon (Ewing) is beginning to get his due," said Schroyer. "He's worked very hard this offseason, and I look for him to have a very, very good year."

"It's definitely a compliment, because there are a lot of great players in this conference, including my teammate Brad Jones," said Ewing. "I feel very honored to receive the recognition."

UW will play its regular-season opener on Saturday, Nov. 10 versus the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs. That game will tip off at 7:00 p.m., Mountain Time from the Arena-Auditorium.
