The Wyoming Cowboys Begin the 2000-01 Season Receiving Votes in Both theESPN/USA Today Coaches' Poll and the Associated Press Media Poll: The2000-01 preseason polls have been released, and the Wyoming Cowboys arereceiving votes in both polls. In the ESPN/USA Today Preseason Coaches'Poll, the Wyoming Cowboys received 10 points to rank No. 45. In theAssociated Press Media Poll, the Wyoming Cowboys received six points to rankNo. 49. Cowboys Finish No. 5 in the Nation in Scoring for1999-2000 Season: In the final 1999-2000 NCAA rankings theWyoming Cowboys ranked No. 5 in the nation in scoring,averaging 82.8 points per game.

Duke was No. 1 (88.0). TCU was second (87.9), Siena third (86.7)and Florida was fourth (83.8).

In Steve McClain's first year at Wyoming (1998-99), Wyomingaveraged 81.6 points per game to rank No. 10 in the nation.

McFall Ranked No. 16 in NCAA in Three-Point Shooting:In the final 1999-2000 NCAA rankings, Wyoming guard Brett McFall ended theseason ranked No. 16 in the nation in three-point field goal percentage,shooting 46.0 percent from the three-point arc (57 of 124).

Three Returning Cowboys Ranked Among League's Leading Scorers a Year Ago:Not only did the Wyoming Cowboys rank first in the league as a team inscoring average (82.8 points per game) for the 1999-2000 season, but theyaccomplished it with a very balanced attack. Three returning Cowboys rankedamong the Top 30 scorers in the Mountain West Conference for the 1999-2000season.

        Those Cowboys were:        Josh Davis, No. 9, 14.3 ppg        Chris McMillian, No. 19, 9.7 ppg        Brett McFall, No. 27, 8.4 ppg

Udezue's Return Adds to Cowboys' Offensive Firepower: Not only do theWyoming Cowboys have three of the MWC's Top 30 scorers returning for thisseason, but they also expect to get a healthy Ugo Udezue back on the court.

Udezue, who missed last season due to knee surgery, averaged 20.5points per game as a sophomore in the '98-'99 season. Udezue ranked No. 4in the Western Athletic Conference in scoring as a sophomore, and rankedNo. 29 in the nation.
