Head coach Steve McClain will put his new-look Cowboys on the Arena-Auditorium floor for an exhibition contest Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. in Laramie to tip-off the 2004-05 season.

Wyoming will face the Colorado School of Mines, coached by Pryor Orser. The Orediggers will be led by returning guard Stephen Bahl who averaged 21 points per game last year on a team that went 7-20, 4-15 in the RMAC. Guard Kevin Wagstaff (9.7 ppg) and forward Davey Iverson (7.4 ppg) are also key returners for the Colorado School of Mines.

As always, McClain is excited about the new season, a year removed from the only losing campaign of his head coaching career. Four returning lettermen, including two starters -- senior guard Jay Straight and senior post player Alex Dunn -- three redshirts and eight new players are fueling that excitement.

Since the 1982-83 season, the Wyoming Cowboys have played at least one exhibition game to begin each season. Wyoming holds a 30-6 (.833) record in exhibition games.

As the name suggests, exhibition games do not count on a team's record for the season.

In the seven years that Steve McClain has been head coach of the Wyoming Cowboys, UW has posted an 11-1 (.917) exhibition record.

The Cowboy Sports Network will carry the game on its 25-station network beginning with the pregame show at 6:30 p.m. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. There is no television coverage of this game. Live radio broadcasts of the Wyoming Cowboys are also available through this website. Click here to listen to Cowboy basketball broadcasts or other UW sports team broadcasts and video features.
