Wyoming and Montana State Meet for the 50th Time This Saturday

The Wyoming Cowboys and Montana State Bobcats will be renewing their rivalry for the 50th time on Saturday, Dec. 2 at the Metra Arena in Billings, Mont. Wyoming leads the overall series with 40 victories against only nine losses. The Cowboys have won the last 12 meetings dating back to Dec. 28, 1992. Saturday's game is scheduled to tip off at 7 p.m., Mountain Time.

Wyoming has posted its best start since the 2000-01 season. The Cowboys have won five of their first six games this season. Montana State will enter Saturday's game having won two games while losing five.

UW has won the last 12 meetings versus Montana State. Of the last 12 meetings, 10 of the 12 have come at neutral sites. The last time the two schools didn't play at a neutral site was Dec. 23, 1997, in Laramie, Wyo. That game was won by the Cowboys 60-59.

The last time Montana State defeated the Pokes was Dec. 16, 1961 in Bozeman by a score of 76-67.

Two Wyoming players have current double-figure scoring streaks. Guards Brandon Ewing and Brad Jones have each scored in double figures in six consecutive games to start the 2006-07 season.

The early portion of Wyoming's 2006-07 non-conference schedule has featured a series of games versus regional opponents.

Other than two games against the University of Alabama-Birmingham (UAB) this season, all of Wyoming's other contests have been played against teams from states bordering Wyoming. This Saturday's game versus Montana State in Billings, Mont., will be the fifth game versus a border opponent.

Wyoming has won all of its four previous games this season versus teams from the border states of Idaho, Montana and Colorado.

There is no television coverage of Saturday's game, but the radio broadcast of the game will begin at 6:30 p.m., Mountain Time on the 25 affiliate stations of the Cowboy Sports Network.
