Wyoming junior Brandon Ewing has been named the Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the third time in his career.
A 6-foot-2 guard from Chicago, Ill. (Julian HS), Ewing led the Cowboys to a 1-1 record on the week. Ewing was the leading scorer in both games, shooting 69.6 percent from the field (16-for-23), 50 percent from three-point range (6-for-12) and 87.5 percent from the charity stripe (7-for-8), while averaging 22.5 points (six points above his average coming into the week), 6.0 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. In Wyoming's win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Ewing scored 21 points, while dishing out a career-best eight assists. He shot 7-of-9 from the floor, including hitting 4-of-6 three-point attempts, while also contributing two steals and two rebounds. In the Cowboys' loss at Akron (5-1), Ewing scored a game-high 24 points (9-of-14 from the field) and handed out four assists.
