The second annual Mountain West-Missouri Valley Basketball Challenge will come to Laramie this Saturday evening as the Wyoming Cowboys will host the Indiana State Sycamores.

Game time is set for 5 p.m. from UW's Arena-Auditorium, following the Cowgirl basketball team's game with Idaho that begins at 12 p.m. The Cowboy game will be televised live on The Mtn.

    About the Series:
This will mark the fourth-ever meeting between the Cowboys and Sycamores. Wyoming leads the all-time series 2-1 and is 1-0 in games played in Laramie. The last two meetings came in the 2001-02 and 2002-03 seasons, with Wyoming winning in Laramie in 2001 (72-58) and in Terre Haute, Ind. in 2002 (69-57).

Amath M'Baye Having a Breakout Sophomore Season:
Amath M'Baye is enjoying a breakout sophomore season for the Cowboys. Through UW's first seven games, he is averaging 11.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.0 blocks a game. He ranks among the best scorers, rebounders and shot blockers in the Mountain West Conference. He is also the only Cowboy to start all seven games this season.

Mountain West Leading Second Challenge 4-0:
The Mountain West Conference took a commanding lead in the 2010 MWC-MVC Challenge and posted a perfect 4-0 record on Wednesday night. Colorado State beat Drake (78-67), BYU beat Creighton (77-65), New Mexico beat Southern Illinois (74-59) and UNLV beat Illinois State (82-51). There will be four Challenge games this Saturday and one more this coming Sunday.

The agreement between the Mountain West and Missouri Valley is in its second year of a four-year term. Nine Challenge Series games are played each year, and each conference will host a total of 18 games in the four-year period. Last year, the Missouri Valley won the series, 5-4.

    About Indiana State:
Indiana State enters Saturday's game with a record of 3-4. Most recently, the Sycamores had won back-to-back games over Oral Roberts (74-69) and Buffalo (58-54), but Notre Dame ended that winning streak this past Tuesday (81-72) in South Bend, Ind.

Indiana State is under first-year head coach Greg Lansing. The Sycamores finished 17-15 in 2009-10 and posted a 9-9 mark in the Missouri Valley, which was good for a sixth-place tie. They welcome back two starters and seven letterwinners from that team.
