After posting an impressive win over Indiana State last Saturday and having an entire week to prepare, the Wyoming Cowboy basketball team will take a little momentum with them on the road as they travel to Irvine, Calif. to face UC Irvine this Friday night.

The Cowboys and Anteaters will tip off at 8 p.m. (MT) from UC Irvine's Bren Events Center.

About the Matchup:
The Cowboys enter Friday's game with a 3-5 overall record, while UC Irvine will bring a 4-4 record into the game. The Pokes are still looking for their first road win of the season. UC Irvine has posted a record of 2-2 at home this season.

About the Series:
This will mark the first-ever meeting between Wyoming and UC Irvine on the basketball floor.

Desmar Jackson Is One of the Mountain West Conference's Best Scorers, Rebounders and Steal Artists:
Sophomore Desmar Jackson is currently ranked as one of the best scorers, rebounders and steal artists in the Mountain West Conference.

Jackson is ranked as the league's 11th best scorer, 12th best rebounder and is ranked No. 3 in steals. He is currently averaging 13.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.14 steals a game.

Jackson is one of only five players in the conference to rank among the top-12 in both scoring and rebounding. He is one of only three players to be ranked in all three categories.

Djibril Thiam Ranks Among MWC's Best Scorers, Rebounders and Shot Blockers:
Senior Djibril Thiam is putting up some impressive numbers for the Cowboys thus far this season. In fact, he ranks among the MWC's best scorers, rebounders and shot blockers.

Thiam currently ranks No. 17 in the MWC in scoring with an average of 11.9 points per game. He is tied for No. 4 in the league in blocked shots with 1.63 per game and is tied for No. 17 in rebounding with 4.9 per game.

Cowboys Have Utilized Six Different Starting Lineups Through First Eight Games:
The Cowboys have utilized six different starting lineups during their first eight games. The most recent lineup, against Indiana State, featured forward Amath M'Baye, center Djibril Thiam, and guards Francisco Cruz, Desmar Jackson and JayDee Luster.

The only Cowboy to start every game this season has been Amath M'Baye. In all, 10 different Cowboys have started at least one game in their career.

About UC Irvine:
UC Irvine is led by a dynamic guard line that features two very good scorers. Seniors Darren Moore and Patrick Rembert are both averaging double figures with respective averages of 18.0 and 13.3 points per game. Moore is also the tram's top rebounder and is pulling down 6.9 a game.

UC Irvine is under the direction of first-year head coach Russell Turner.

Next week, the Cowboys will return home for their longest stretch of home games of the season. The Pokes will play five home games between Dec. 14-28. They will open that stretch on Tue., Dec. 14 by hosting Denver.
