In what will be their fifth consecutive game away from home, the Wyoming Cowboy basketball team will travel to Omaha, Neb. this Saturday to face the Creighton Bluejays. The 6:00 p.m., M.T. tipoff will pit the Cowboys (4-3) against the Bluejays (8-1) of the Missouri Valley Conference.
The last action for both teams was this past Saturday, Dec. 11, 2004. The Pokes lost to Kansas State, 61-64, in Casper, Wyo., while Creighton defeated Nebraska, 50-48, in Lincoln, Neb.
Wyoming senior point guard Jay Straight is once again leading the way for the Cowboys in the 2004-05 season, and Straight is also leading the way in the Mountain West Conference. Straight is among the league leadersin six of the 12 individual statistical categories ranked in the Mountain West Conference. In his last four games, Straight is averaging 19.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. For the season, Straight is averaging 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game.
The Bluejays are led by junior guard Nate Funk who has averaged 15.9 points per game, and senior guard Kellen Miliner, averaging 14.2 points per game.
The game will be carried on the 25-station Cowboy Sports Network. No television coverage is planned for Saturday night's contest.
The last time these two teams met was Dec. 22, 2003 in Laramie. Creighton won that game 66-61.
UW leads the all-time series with Creighton, 8-6.
