Wade Betschart

What was the process in getting you to Wyoming to play football?
"Well, basically, my senior year in high school, I talked to coaches and they brought me down on a recruiting trip and gave me an opportunity to walk-on. They gave me a scholarship in the spring of my freshman year after I was able to get my knee fixed, so that's pretty much how it happened."

What is your most memorable game thus far in your Cowboy career?
"I'd have to say the Vegas Bowl is the most memorable game. It was my freshman year, and that was definitely the best season we've had so far. It was a big win for us and our backs were against the ropes and nobody thought we could win and we came out and put up the upset."

If you could participate in any other sport at UW, what would it be?
"Wrestling, most definitely."

What's your favorite class at UW right now?
"My favorite class that I'm taking this semester would probably be Intro to Meat Evaluation. It's a pretty cool class and it's actually a class that covers stuff that I'm interested in being an Ag Business major."

What's your favorite food?
"Oh probably a rib eye steak."

Are there any pre game rituals that you have to do? What's your post-game ritual after a big win?
"Not really, no. I just show up with a big smile on my face; ready to go. After the game is a little different. If we get a win, we crank up `Take Me Home Tonight', by Eddie Money."

You've got CSU coming to town this weekend. How important is this game for you, being from Wyoming?
"That's definitely the biggest game of the year. If you get that one under your belt and get a win there, then that makes your season. No matter what happens the rest of the year, that will definitely make your season. We could go one and ten and beat CSU, and we had a great season."

How did you get the nickname "Bucky"?
"When I was in kindergarten, my mom used to call me `Wady Bucky Boo Bear'. As I got older it got shortened to `Wady Buck' and eventually to just `Bucky', so it's just something that everybody started calling me."
