Dr. Sheahon Zenger

Dr. Sheahon Zenger will be coaching the Wyoming running backs and coordinating UW's recruiting efforts for his second consecutive season. Zenger came to Wyoming from the University of South Florida where he served as the running backs coach and recruiting coordinator in 1996. He returned to the coaching ranks in i96 after a four-year hiatus to complete his Ph.D. in higher education administration at the University of Kansas.

Zenger began his coaching career as an assistant coach at Manhattan High School in Manhattan, Kan., for the 1987 season. He moved on to Drake University in 1988 where he was a graduate assistant for one season, before taking a similar position at Kansas State in 1989. After the 1989 season, Zenger was elevated to the position of administrative assistant and director of football operations at K-State. He served in that position for the 1990 and 1991 seasons. During his college career, he played quarterback at Fort Hays State University and Mid-America Nazarene College. He completed his bachelor's degree in english education at Kansas State in 1988, and added a master's degree in journalism and mass communications from K-State in 1992.

While completing his Ph.D. at the University of Kansas, Zenger was the Editor-in-Chief of American Football Quarterly, and he served as an administrative intern with the Executive Vice Chancellor at KU. Born in Salina, Kan., on April 13, 1966, he is married to the former Pamela McAnarney. They have one son, Luke. Zenger's first name is pronounced SHAY-un.
