September 19, 1998

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

The 12th ranked Georgia Bulldogs came out in the first quarter with back-to-back scoring drives, staking a 10-0 lead, and looking as if they would blow the Wyoming Cowboy football team out of Sanford Satdium, on Saturday, Sept. 19, in Athens, Georgia. But, a well-coached and well-conditioned UW team put together a scoring drive of their own in the secondquarter, making it 10-3, and the Cowboy defense stiffened, enabling the Pokes to play, and even outplay the Georgia team for the remainder of the afternoon.

The UW defense limited the Bulldogs to 74 rushing yards on the afternoon, forced four turnovers, held Georgia scoreless in the second half and limited the Bulldog offense to only 93 total yards in the second half.Despite giving up two interceptions and rushing for only 94 yards on Saturday, the UW offense also looked good in Athens. Receiver Kofi Shuck had a career high six catches for 53 yards and quarterback Jay Stoner threw for 217 yards and a touchdown.
