PROVO, Utah (AP) - Curtis Brown rushed for 159 yards and one touchdown andthrew a 40-yard touchdown pass to lead Brigham Young to a 24-13 win overWyoming on Saturday.
Wyoming (4-2, 1-1 Mountain West Conference) has not won in Provo since 1987and has yet to win on the road.
The lead didn't last long. Brigham Young (3-4, 2-1 Mountain West Conference)regained momentum on its next possession and took a 17-13 lead when Brownscored on a 9-yard run with 13:37 left in the game. Later in the quarter, BYUextended its lead to 24-13 on a Fahu Tahi 15-yard run with 2:06 remaining inthe game.
The Cougars led 10-6 at halftime despite a sloppy first half by both teams.The two offenses combined to turn the ball over six times in the first half.Wyoming quarterback Corey Bramlet was picked off three times and BYUquarterback John Beck was picked off once while Brown and Bryce Mahuika fumbledthe ball. Bramlet was picked four times in the game.
Brown gave the Cougars a 7-0 lead with 10:46 left in the first quarter whenhe completed a 40-yard halfback pass to a wide open Austin Collie. Brownaccounted for 95 of BYU's 96 total yards in the first quarter.
Cowboy kicker Deric Yaussi kicked field goals 45 and 40 and BYU kicker MattPayne added a 46-yard field goal right before halftime.
