Wyoming Hits Three-Game Slide With Loss To Colorado State

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Justin Holland threw for a career-high 419 yards and four touchdowns and converted a key fourth down play to lead Colorado State to a 39-31 victory over Wyoming Saturday.

Holland was 20-for-37 throwing. David Anderson caught six passes for 169 yards and one TD. Kory Sperry had two TD receptions for Colorado State (4-3, 3-1 Mountain West Conference) which has beaten Wyoming six of the last seven meetings in the annual "Border War."

Kyle Bell ran for 135 yards, his fourth 100-yard game of the year.

Jovon Bouknight caught 12 passes for 187 yards to extend his consecutive game streak to 44 games with at least one reception. He caught three TD passes and threw for another.

Corey Bramlet was 24-for-38 for 296 yards for three touchdowns and was intercepted twice. He has eight interceptions in the last three games for Wyoming (4-4, 2-3 Mountain West Conference)

Bouknight fumbled at the Colorado State 28 with Wyoming driving for a possible tying touchdown with three minutes and nine seconds left.

Wyoming scored on its two possessions in the first quarter to take a 10-0 lead. It took the Cowboys 34 seconds the first time they had the ball to drive 67 yards. Bouknight took a lateral from Bramlet and threw to a wide open Jason Wallace in the end zone.

They capped an 88-yard drive on their second possession with a 21-yard field goal by Deric Yaussi with 2:14 left in the first quarter.

Kevin Mark cut the lead to 10-3 with a career-best 34-yard field. Three plays, later Darryl Williams tied it at 10-10 with a 27-yard interception return for a touchdown.

A minute later Bouknight ran through three arm tackles en route to a 63-yard touchdown pass play.

Wyoming made a goal line stand late in the second quarter after Colorado State's Matt Rupp returned a fumble by Wynel Sneldon 20 yards to the Wyoming 2. The Rams settled for a 25-yard field goal by Mark.

Bouknight, who had six catches for 107 after two quarters, caught a 16-yard pass from Bramlet with 44 seconds left in the half. Holland answered with a 50-yard scoring strike to Sperry with nine seconds left to make it 24-20 at halftime.

CSU took its first lead of the game, 26-24, with 7:46 left in the third quarter on a 5-yard pass from Holland. Mark missed his first PAT of the year.

The Rams wasted an interception by Blake Smith deep inside Wyoming 15 when Mark missed a 36-yard field goal with two minutes left in the third quarter.

Hoost Marsh fumbled after returning a punt 49 yards to the CSU 18. Holland found Anderson on the next play at midfield and ran untouched into the end zone when Julius Stinson and Brandon Bell collided trying to make the tackle with 13:06 remaining in the game to make it 33-24.

Bouknight caught his third TD pass of the game, a 22-yard reception with 10:35 left to cut it to 33-31.

The Rams appeared to seal the game when they converted a fourth-and-7 with 5:51 left and Holland hit Sperry for a 31-yard touchdown. Sperry and Brandon Bell collided, the ball was tipped in the air and Sperry caught the deflection with Bell falling down at the Wyoming 5.
