LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Wyoming Cowboy football will don Nike’s newest uniform technology in 2016. Nike’s Mach Speed jerseys and pants, which feature the same uniform technology worn by all four teams in the most recent College Football Playoffs, will be the uniform worn by the Cowboys starting next season. The team unveiled its newly-designed uniforms on Friday.
Wyoming Football teamed with Nike to design uniforms that incorporate Nike’s state-of-the art innovations while at the same time recognizing the great tradition of Cowboy Football by returning the full “WYOMING” name to the front of the home and road jerseys. Another added element on the front of the jersey will be a crest piece at the base of the collar featuring Wyoming’s iconic Steamboat Bucking Horse and Rider logo. The famed Nike Swoosh will be prominently displayed on the left side of each player’s jersey.
Nike also customized the Cowboys’ jerseys by incorporating the western “WYOMING” font in both the school name and the player numbers on the front of the jersey and the player numbers on the back and shoulders of the jerseys. The home brown jersey will feature a white and gold stripe on the sleeves and the white road jersey will feature a brown and gold stripe on the sleeves.
To better match the stripes on the jersey sleeves, a wider brown and gold stripe down the middle of the Cowboys’ helmets has been designed to complement the new uniform design. The Cowboys will continue to wear their distinctive white helmet with the Steamboat Bucking Horse and Rider logo in brown outlined in gold on both sides of the helmet.
The home and road jerseys will each be paired with gold pants with the Steamboat logo displayed on the right hip and the Nike Swoosh logo displayed on the left front of the pant a couple inches below the waist.
Wyoming will kick off the 2016 season on Saturday, Sept. 3 hosting Northern Illinois on Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium.
