LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Head Coach Joe Glenn's inaugural football schedule at Wyoming will include six schools who played in bowl games a season ago, as well as home dates with two of the Cowboys' all-time rivals.
Wyoming's 2003 football schedule was announced Monday by UW Athletics Director Lee Moon.
The Cowboys will play a 12-game schedule next fall, including six home dates and six away games.
The home schedule is highlighted by old rivals Brigham Young (Oct. 18), and Colorado State (Nov. 1) as well as Big 12 entry Kansas (Sept. 13). The Cowboys open the season at home on Aug. 30, hosting Montana State. Mountain West rivals New Mexico (Nov. 22) and UNLV (Nov. 29) round out the home schedule.
Wyoming's MWC road schedule will include games at Air Force (Sept. 20), at San Diego State (Oct. 25), and at Utah (Nov. 15). The non-conference games away from War Memorial Stadium include Oklahoma State (Sept. 6), Boise State (Sept. 27), and Utah State (Oct. 11).
"We are extremely disappointed with the home conference dates set by our league office," Moon said. "We are going to look at alternatives to a home schedule that has us playing three games in November. In the past we have been amenable to a home game in November, and even two on occasion. But three home games during that month is asking a great deal of our fans. We are going to do everything we can to get the league office to make the necessary changes."
The only time Wyoming has ever played three home games in November came during the 1941 season.
Game times, ticket prices and television coverage will be announced at a later date, Moon said.
