LARAMIE, Wyo. -

WYO-Vision recently sat down with Russell Dennison, who was hired as the new University of Wyoming Director of Sport Performance in January of 2016. As a former Oklahoma Sooner football player and assistant strength and conditioning coach at OU, Dennison brings a wealth of experience playing and coaching at the highest level of college football.

As a strength and conditioning coach, he was part of a staff that helped the Sooners reach the 2015 College Football Playoff semifinals. While a player for the Sooners from 2002-05, his teams earned their way to three consecutive Big XII Championship games in 2002, 2003 and 2004, winning the Big XII title game in 2002 and 2004. The Sooners played in two consecutive BCS National Championship Games following the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

A native of a small town himself, growing up in Weatherford, Okla., Dennison's blue-collar work ethic has already had an impact on the Wyoming Football team.
