LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Wyoming Cowboys will be featured on five ESPN network telecasts during the 2014 college football season. The Mountain West Conference and its television partners, ESPN and CBS Sports Network, released on Thursday the balance of its national telecasts for the 2014 college football season. As part of that announcement, four more Wyoming football games were added to the ESPN networks telecast schedule for 2014.
All of the MW telecasts announced on Thursday will be Saturday telecasts. The four Wyoming Saturday games selected for television will combine with a previously announced Friday, Nov. 7 home game versus Utah State on ESPN2 to give the Cowboys five ESPN telecasts for the upcoming season.
The first Cowboy game to be carried on an ESPN network during the 2014 season will be the Sept. 6 home game versus Front Range rival Air Force. On Saturday, Oct. 18, Wyoming's home game versus San Jose State will be carried by the ESPN networks. The one Wyoming road game selected was the Saturday, Nov. 1 game at Fresno State, and the final Saturday ESPN network telecast of a Wyoming home game in 2014 will be on Nov. 22 versus Boise State.
With Thursday's announcement, ESPN added 15 Mountain West Saturday games to its 2014 college football schedule. ESPN is expected to provide the network designation and game time for the Sept. 6 Wyoming-Air Force game when it releases its plans for the start of the season.
Game times and specific outlets for the remaining ESPN network games will be determined during the course of the regular season, and will generally be announced 12 days prior to the date of the game.
The one Wyoming game time and network that has been set is ESPN2 will travel to Laramie, Wyo., on Friday, Nov. 7 for a national telecast of the Wyoming Cowboys and Utah State Aggies in a game scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m., Mountain Time from Wyoming's Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium.
"Having five of our games on ESPN telecasts is great for our fans, the young men in our program and for recruiting," said University of Wyoming head coach Craig Bohl. "As we look to bring back the great tradition of Wyoming Football we are excited to receive this level of national exposure for our program and our university."
Wyoming was featured on ESPN networks three times in 2013, including two ESPN2 telecasts -- once at home vs. Fresno State and once on the road at Boise State. The Cowboys road game at Air Force in 2013 was carried on ESPNU.
ROOT SPORTS and the Mountain West Network powered by Campus Insiders will be announcing additional 2014 Mountain West football telecasts in the weeks to come.
