LARAMIE, Wyo. - With the addition of Chris McNeill, a total of eight former University of Wyoming football players have been invited to NFL free-agent camps in 2013.
McNeill received an invitation this week to participate in a free-agent camp with the San Diego Chargers. Former UW wide receiver Malcom Floyd finished his ninth season with San Diego in 2012 after joining the team as an undrafted free agent in 2004.
A four-year contributor at wide receiver, McNeill led Wyoming in receptions (63) and receiving yards (722) in 2012. He concluded his Wyoming career with 12 touchdown receptions, No. 9 in team history, and had 1,600 receiving yards over four seasons. He ranks 11th in catches in team history with 150 receptions.
His best game of the 2012 season came at Idaho, when he had a career-high 219 receiving yards in 40-37 overtime win. That outing ranked 11th in the NCAA in 2012 in terms of the best single-game performance.
The two-time Second Team All-Mountain West selection joins former teammates Luke Anderson, Nick Carlson, Korey Jones, Josh Leonard, Kyle Magnuson, Mike Purcell and Kurt Taufa`asau, all of whom were invited to camp with professional teams over the last week.
