LARAMIE, Wyo. -
University of Wyoming Athletics Director Gary Barta announced on Wednesday that game times for Wyoming's six home football games in 2004 have been tentatively set. The first five home games will kick off at 1:00 p.m., Mountain time, with the final home contest on Nov. 13 versus Utah to start at noon. The game times are subject to change depending on television coverage.
"In an effort to help our fans plan for the upcoming season, we want to keep our game times as consistent as possible," said Barta. "We hope fans understand that television coverage could require us to move some of these times, but our goal is to maintain early afternoon kickoffs for as many games as possible."
The 2004 Cowboy home schedule will feature Cotton Bowl Champion Ole Miss on Sept. 25; MWC member San Diego State, on Oct. 9 for Homecoming; longtime rival Air Force, on Oct. 30; and MWC and Liberty Bowl Champion Utah on Nov. 13. The 2004 season begins for the Wyoming Cowboys on Sept. 4 at home against Appalachian State. UW will also host Louisiana-Monroe on Oct. 2.
The Mountain West Conference's primary television contract is with ESPN and its affiliates. ESPN has the right to select television games up to 12 days in advance of the game, and in some occasions up to six days prior to a game. The Mountain West Conference has also made allowances for the changing of game times due to local television broadcasts back to a visiting team's home market.
The University of Wyoming Athletics Department will make announcements regarding any changes in home game times as soon as it becomes aware of those changes.
