LARAMIE, Wyo. -
The 2014 Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List was released on Monday by the Rotary Lombardi Award Committee. University of Wyoming junior defensive end Eddie Yarbrough was one of the players named to the 2014 list. A total of 123 student-athletes from 76 universities were named by the Rotary Lombardi Committee to this year's Watch List.
The Rotary Lombardi Award eligibility list is limited to down linemen, end-to-end, either on offense or defense, who set up no farther than 10 yards to the left or right of the ball, or linebackers who set up no farther than five yards deep from the line of scrimmage. The candidates earned a place on the preliminary watch list by earning All-America honors, being named to their respective All-Conference teams or receiving 2014 preseason honors. The Rotary Lombardi Award Watch List will be updated prior to the start of the 2014 season in order to identify other players who have received significant preseason honors.
Yarbrough was named First Team All-Mountain West Conference as a sophomore in 2013 in voting by conference head coaches and media members. He led all Mountain West defensive linemen in tackles, averaging 7.4 tackles per game in 2013. Yarbrough ended the 2013 season with 89 total tackles, including 6.5 sacks, 12.0 tackles for loss, two fumble recoveries and two forced fumbles.
A native of Aurora, Colo., where he played at Grandview High School, Yarbrough also earned Honorable Mention Sophomore All-America honors from Campus Insiders/CollegeFootballNews.com in 2013.
The 45th Rotary Lombardi Award will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at the Bayou Music Center in Houston, Texas.
