CORONADO, Calif. -
In a poll of the Mountain West Conference media on Monday, the TCU Horned Frogs were selected as pre-season favorites to win the 2006 league football title. The Wyoming Cowboys were picked to finish ninth.
Media members, as well as MWC head coaches and select players, are in San Diego, Calif., participating in the annual MWC Football Media Day. UW is represented by head coach Joe Glenn, senior offensive tackle Chase Johnson and senior safety John Wendling.
In 2005, the Cowboys were picked third, and then after a promising 4-1 start went on to finish the season 4-7. Wyoming returns six offensive and six defensive starters from that team. The last time the 'Pokes were tabbed by the league media to finish at the bottom was 2004, when Wyoming concluded the season with a 24-21 victory over UCLA in the Pioneer Purevision Las Vegas Bowl.
