In a long line of excellent place kickers, Burlington, Colo., native Cory Wedel is one of the Cowboysí all-time best scorers and kickers. Wedel still is the third-best scorer in UW history with 301 points on 139 extra points and 54 field goals. He also has four single-game records, including total points scored kicking (20), extra-points attempted and made (9), and single-game field goal attempts (6). The most accurate kicker in Cowboy history, Wedel made 99 percent of his PATs during his career, going 139-for-140. During the 1995, í96 and í97 seasons, Wedel made every PAT and from 1995-97 he made 128 consecutive extra points. In 1996, Wedel set the UW single-season record for total field goals made with 20. During his stellar career, Wedel earned three consecutive All-Western Athletic Conference honors (1995-97). He also excelled in the classroom earning Academic All-WAC honors all four seasons. Following his career at UW, Wedel earned an NCAA post-graduate scholarship.
