A native of San Anselmo, Calif., quarterback Craig Burnett led the Cowboys to their first of two Western Athletic Conference Championships in 1987. He concluded his career with the most average pass attempts (39.2) and completions (22.2) per game in UW history. During the 1987 season, Burnett put up the fifth-best single-season passing mark in Cowboys history throwing for 3,131 yards and 23 touchdowns. Also during that season, he recorded the sixth-best single game passing mark in Wyoming history throwing for 441 yards on 58 tosses. Burnett led the Pokes to the 1987 Holiday Bowl.
