`Receiver U'

From 1990 through 1996, Wyoming football became synonymous with high-flying aerial offensive attacks. Two players put UW on the map as "Receiver U" for their abundance of talent and eye-popping statistics: Ryan Yarborough and Marcus Harris.

Yarborough set the standard for UW pass catchers from 1990-93 when he twice led the nation in total receiving yards. In 1992, he caught 86 balls for 1,351 yards. The next year, he did even better with 1,512 yards on 67 receptions. He finished his career with 4,357 yards receiving, which set the NCAA record at the time and still ranks fifth in NCAA history. He had three 1,000-yard receiving campaigns (tied for first in NCAA history) and caught 42 TD passes. He remains the NCAA all-time leader in highest average gain per reception at 19 yards per catch.

After Yarborough was gone, Harris stepped up and began setting UW and NCAA records. From 1993-96, Harris tallied 4,518 yards, breaking Yarborough's record and currently is No. 3 in NCAA history, had 24 100-yard receiving games (No. 2 in NCAA history) and had three 1,400-yard receiving seasons, which is the top mark all-time in NCAA history. Harris won the Biletnikoff Award in 1996, given to the nation's top wide receiver.

Yarborough and Harris own nearly every single UW receiving record, and are featured prominently in the all-time top-10 lists for Cowboy receivers. Harris is atop the career yards, career receptions, single-season yards, single-game yards and single-game receptions lists, while Yarborough owns the marks in career TD receptions, single-season TD receptions and highest average TD catches per game. Both Harris and Yarborough were two-time All-America honorees.
