Dabby Dawson


A Wichita, Kan., native Dabby Dawson is one of the best running backs in Cowboy history and played on one of the best teams in school history. Dawson helped the 1988 Cowboys to a 11-2 overall record and Western Athletic Conference championship. That season, he rushed 151 times for 1,119 yards and nine touchdowns. His 1988 season is the fifth-best rushing performance in Cowboy history. Also in 1988 he had the sixth-best single-game rushing performance in UW history rushing for 225 yards on 16 carries and four touchdowns against San Diego State. For his efforts that season he earned All-WAC honors. He followed the `88 season with his second-consecutive 1,000-yard season in 1989 rushing for 1,005 yards and six touchdowns. His `89 season still sits No. 10 on the Cowboy single-season rushing list. For his career he rushed for 2,124 yards on 333 carries with 15 touchdowns. His career rushing yards is No. 9 all-time for the Cowboys.
