Brian Brown to Lead Defensive Squad in 1998

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The Cowboys willmiss the talents of Jim Talich when the 1998 season rollsaround. Talich led the Pokes in tackles for the 1994, 95 and 96seasons, but in '97 junior linebacker Brian Brown (Columbus, Mont.) stepped up to leadUW in tackles with 136, and the good news is that Brown still has one season left to play.

Brown walked onto the Wyoming program in 1995, after playing one seasonat Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Mont. After redshirting in1995, Brown earned a starting spot in '96 at weak-side linebacker. Hefinished third in tackles as a sophomore with 103 tackles, and in '97led the Pokes with 136 as he shifted to an inside linebacker spot inUW's new 3-4 alignment.

Brown will enter his senior season with 239 career tackles, only seventackles out of the Wyoming Career Top 10 list.

An honor student, Brown was named Second Team GTE Academic All-Americanin 1997. He has achieved a 3.80 grade-point average in business.
