LARAMIE, Wyo. -
Last Time In Lincoln
The last time UW played at Nebraska in 1994, it was a clash of styles. The mighty Huskers, ranked second in the nation, utilized a talented backfield to abuse opponents with their rushing attack. UW, on the other hand, took to the air to key their offense.
Led by quarterback Jeremy Dombek and wide receiver Marcus Harris, the 1994 Cowboys were on the verge of a huge upset. Dombek had a great game, throwing for 264 yards on 17 completions and two touchdowns. His offensive counterpart Harris was his main target, catching eight balls for 149 yards and one score.
In what the Nebraska 1994 recap described as an "unexpectedly close" game, the Cowboys raced to a 14-0 led in the first quarter and led 21-7 in the second quarter. But Nebraska's rushing attack took control, piling up 322 yards, and the Huskers scored 28 unanswered to lead 35-21 in the third quarter.
The Pokes wouldn't go quietly, and scored 11-straight points to trail by just three, 35-32, with 9:09 left in the game. But Nebraska tacked on another rushing TD with 5:28 to go to seal the game, 42-32.
Nebraska went on to a 13-0 season and was named the national champion by both the Associated Press and USA Today polls.
