LARAMIE, Wyo. -
A reunion of the 1987 and 1988 Wyoming Cowboy Football teams that captured back-to-back Western Athletic Conference (WAC) Championships will be held this weekend in Laramie, Wyo.
Over 40 players and coaches from those two teams are expected to be in attendance at weekend activities. Among the returning team members will be eight former All-Conference performers, including: Gerald Abraham (1987 All-Conference running back); David Edeen (1988 All-Conference defensive end); Tony Kapushion (1987 All-Conference offensive tackle); Tom Kilpatrick (1987 All-Conference punter); Jeff Knapton (1987 All-Conference defensive tackle); Mike Schenbeck (1988 All-WAC linebacker); Galand Thaxton (1987 All-WAC linebacker); and Randy Welniak (1988 All-WAC quarterback).
Also in attendance will be the architect of those two teams -- head coach Paul Roach. In his first two seasons as a college head coach, Roach led the Cowboys to a 10-3 record in 1987 and an 11-2 mark in 1988. Those two teams posted back-to-back undefeated 8-0 records in conference play and earned bids to the 1987 and 1988 Holiday Bowls.
Team members will be in attendance at Tailgate Park prior to Saturday's Wyoming vs. Air Force game, and they will be recognized between the first and second quarters of Saturday's game.
The Wyoming-Air Force game will kickoff at 1:30 p.m. from Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium.
